Preparation of flower-like titania particles from lithium titanate hydrate via acid treatment and hydrothermal crystallization

Micron-sized flower-like particles with plate-like titania petals were prepared by acid and posthydrothermal treatment of lithium titanate hydrate (LTH). Hydrolysis titanium alkoxide ethanol washing used to create porous hydrous spherical shapes. Hydrothermal in LiOH aqueous solution resulted the formation crystals LTH on particles. Li ions removed maintaining appearance original stirring 0.1 M hydrochloric acid. In addition, crystallinity as anatase was improved hydrothermal pure water. Although having a micron-order size, obtained showed almost same photodegradation ability Evans blue under ultraviolet irradiation AEROXIDE® TiO2 P25.
